Different reports released reporting transaction during the 29th Bali Arts Festival. While Bali province report a decrease trend, differently Denpasar city report a significant increase this year from Bali craft exhibition held last year.
A chilling statement released by Denpasar office of Industrial & Trading Department of RI (Disperindag Denpasar) via its chief, I Dewa Gede Dharendra, that craft makers in Denpasar was claimed to book about Rp. 1.5 billions worth of transaction from 34 participating craft makers from Denpasar during recently held 29th annual Bali Arts Festival (BAF) June 15 to July 14 2007.
Dharendra quoted as stating that this year achievement reflects an 80% increase from last year BAF which only gained Rp 800 millions.
Among the biggest slices are textile (Rp 980millions), silvers (Rp 91 millions), plaits (Rp 75 millions), dried flowers (Rp 34 millions), ironsmiths (Rp 21 millions), paintings (Rp 20 millions), shoes & sandals (Rp 10 millions) and traditional fans (Rp 7 millions).
On another report the Bali province office of Industrial & Trading Department of RI (Disperindag Propinsi Bali) revealed that increase in joining trading participants from 148 to 157 this year, the total overall transaction during 29th BAF was unexpected decreased significantly from 6.6 billions last year to 4.7 billions due to lowering buying capacity of Balinese and budget allocated for recent Galungan - Kuningan holidays.
Craft exhibition held at the basement and around Ksirarnawa building in Bali Art Centre , place where all BAF shows performed, have been a complement of the annual Bali Arts Festival. To participate in the exhibition local craft makers should comply to some conditions such as being a registered industry as well as paying some amount to the government.
